Next week I start finals. My first final will be in Ethics and Society. This is an entry level philosophy class. It was very interesting hearing what the kids (yes I know that they are 18-24 years old, but at 43 they are kids) think. The professor did an exultant job and did very well in encouraging everyone to express an opinion. And she never tried to enforce her opinion on the class. This is my first formal philosophy class in a secular setting and I did not really know what to expect when I began the class. After a semester I can say that generally philosophy seems to be an attempt to have religion without having to muck about with all of the God stuff.
My other finals will be in math (yuck) and Public Relations. After the first day in PR I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was absolutely not interested in the class. The instructor made it very interesting, but I never got into it.
